Kumu Hula Lohelani Garcia

Kumu Hula Lohelani graduated as part of Papa ʻŪniki ʻAʻaliʻi in 2022 under Kumu Hula Rolanda Mohala Reese.  Lohe was a haumāna of Hālau Hula Nā Meakanu O Laka O Hawaiʻi since 1993 and has been an alakaʻi (student teacher) of the keiki and adult classes since 2005.  She is excited to be sharing her love of hula through Hālau Hula `Alohiwena`olu`ikeloa. ​

Past Teaching Experience

·       1993 Joined hālau Nāmeakanu O Laka O Hawai`i
·       2003 – 2004 served as kokua for the Kaikamahine (ages 6-9)                                            and Keiki (ages 3-5)
·       2005 Instructor for the Kaikamahine class (preparing and chaperoning for their            Oahu Study tour in July 2005)
·       2006 Adult Ike Kumu Instructor
·       2007-2008 Liko (ages 10-14) Class instructor, graduating the haumana to the                Maile class
·       2009-2011 Kaikamahine and Keiki instructor
·       2012-2013 Kaikamahine and Liko class instructor
·       2012 Ford Theatre – Summer Program, which included travel to LA county Cities          to educate and teach Hawaiian dances to the community.
·       2014 – 2019 Mokihana (ages 45-up) class instructor
·       2015 – current Keiki Hou (ages 2 – 5) class instructor
·       2015 – Started own school of hula HULA ME LOHELANI in Claremont, CA                      (November)
·       2016 – opened studio at Village Dance Arts in Claremont (October)
